It’s never too late to start an Online Business
Turning 60 was a huge milestone. For the first time in my life this moment really made me sit up and take stock. I thought about everything I had achieved up to that point and all the things I still wanted to experience and enjoy in the coming 25 to 30 years. (if I’m lucky!)
I’ve always been a bit of an entrepreneur. After working as a company employee for over 10 years, I decided to set up my first company in 1998. Although I really enjoyed growing and working on the business, the hours were long and tiring.
Any money I made was always reinvested back in the business. I got to the point where I was emotionally and physically exhausted. I was getting very little personal reward for the amount of effort I was putting in. I was spending too much time on the business and less time doing the things that gave me fulfilment, joy and happiness.
I put my life and soul into creating my dream but the cost of that was spending less time with my with my family and friends. After 14 years I decided it was time to make a change.
I tried addressing the thing that were not giving me the quality of life I desired.
By setting up a new business venture closer to home I could start by cutting out the four hour commute. During the winter months this involved leaving home in the dark and returning home in the dark which was not much fun at all. In that time I barely managed to spend any quality time with my kids during the week in the early years of their lives. There is nothing worse than the feeling that you are missing out on seeing them grow up!
The new business started off being much more rewarding. I had managed to gain a little more time for myself and my family. Unfortunately as time went on the business started to become financially draining. Every year costs were increasing across the board in the hospitality & catering industry sector I was in. It was becoming harder to make a reasonable living.
One of the realisations of turning 60 was no matter how hard I continued to work, it was becoming clear that I wasn’t going to have enough money to retire comfortably and live my best senior life.
I wanted to go back to basics and find a way to work at home from my laptop.
I no longer wanted the responsibility of running of a small business and all challenges that go with employing staff and making sure they get paid every month.
I loved the thought of creating something new that I could build on my own but still be part of a business community.
The discovery that changed everything
I’m by no means a whiz on the computer but I’ve always loved challenging myself and learning new digital skills, The question was, what could I do to earn an income and at the same time have the freedom I desired to follow my dreams and give myself more time to do the things I loved to do?
There was no reason why I couldn’t continue to make a living and enjoy working well into my 80’s even if it was on a part time basis. At the same time I could give myself the time I craved to live my best life. I started looking for ways to build a business from my laptop that would be less physically and mentally demanding.
So - there began my online search for some answers. How I could learn what I needed to know to make it happen? I was overwhelmed with how much information was out there. I started by typing into the search engine “Part time jobs for seniors” & “Online businesses for retirees”
As I trawled the internet I became very weary of being scammed with get rich quick schemes and the promise of instant success just by following a few simple steps.
I learnt from having my businesses that nothing comes easy and it’s nearly always by putting in the work that gets the rewards. It’s the old saying “what you put in is what you get out” !
I started looking for educational resources which could give me the knowledge I needed to learn how to build and create a successful online business that could provide me with financial & geographical freedom, giving me the time I craved to pursue my goals and ambitions for the future.
No nonsense & straight talking
Before I had even come to the end of the video I knew I had arrived at the right place. I had found what I had been searching for. Someone who talked a lot of sense ! There was no get rich scheme or a promise of an easy shortcut to success. There was a carefully planned blueprint for how to build a solid foundation for success, creating a route map unique to me, based on my own values and goals, encompassing the passions and goals I wanted to pursue.
I could see that people with no real digital experience were able to create successful online businesses using tried and tested digital software and assets enabling them to generate an income 24 hours a day.
This was something I could build and get established in my spare time with the potential for me to earn more than I had ever done in my previous business ventures.
With so much uncertainty in the traditional jobs market especially when you enter your senior years, you also seem to become less employable. An online business was the perfect opportunity to be part of a new digital revolution that didn’t seem so scary to enter with the huge wealth of training and support that was on offer to help you navigate this new world.
So what did I do ?
I knew I had to make a change. Going down the same old career path for the next 10 -15 years was no longer an option if I really wanted to change my future for the better. I just had a gut feeling that taking this leap of faith was a real opportunity for me so I grasped it with both hands. I had nothing to loose and everything to gain.
Compared with financial investments I had made in my previous businesses I really felt that it was absolutely the right thing to do. Investing in an online business educational course was an investment in myself to change my future direction both personally and financially.
What’s this new online journey been like ?
I’m just at the beginning of this great learning adventure which I’m sure will continue for many years to come. Not only am I discovering new things about myself, but also the endless possibilities for creating an online business through Affiliate Marketing or …… It’s a new world of commerce that I never knew existed and the possibilities are endless.
Is it a genuine worthwhile resource ?
In my quest to change direction in my 60th year and to really make some significant but scary steps away from the path I’ve been treading to enable me to live my best later life I’ve come across many different courses offering many different ways to achieve success. Some are good and some not so good.
My own personal experience has been so positive. From the conversations I have had with other members in the community and the guidance I have had from the mentors on the resource, I feel is this is the most well thought out learning resource I have encountered.
